Blackspot
Blackspot

Black or dark green 'spots' on the floor and walls of the pool and has a waxy coating that requires specific treatment.
HOW TO TREAT BLACKSPOT
(based on the average 60 000 litre pool)
- Treatment will not be instant - Tropical Algaecide works over a period of 10-14 days.
- Do not use copper-based algaecides if the pool has an excess build up of calcium
- The longer the Blackspot has been in the pool, the harder it is to treat.
- Success is also determined on how much Blackspot is in the pool. The amount of Blackspot is directly related to how Tropical Algaecide is required.
- No brushing is required.
Treatment:- Sprinkle granular pool chlorine over the patches. It will take 2 Kg or more.
- Leave pump off 24 hours
- Turn on pump
- Add 2 litres of Hydrochloric acid
- Lightly brush chlorine residues with pool broom
- Add a dose of tropical pool algaecide
- Swimming is allowed 2 hours after dosage
After 3 weeks, if black spot is still present, add a second dose of tropical pool algaecide (if the black spot has been present for more than 3 months, a second dose will definitely be necessary).
Take a water sample to Rode Pool Services for re-balancing.
IMPORTANT: Treatment WILL NOT work if insufficient Algaecide is added!
